The South Florida Fair believes that every youth exhibitor
should receive proper training and information for
raising and showing a youth animal project. It is important
that the exhibitor
understand: The purpose and importance of ethics in
youth livestock projects, proper animal
handling and
management and the difference between animal welfare
and animal rights. The MANDATORY Youth Livestock
Show Ethics and Animal Care Workshop is designed to certify
students to meet these requirements. Certification is
valid for a 3 year period if taken in 2006. This program
has been endosed by the Florida Department of Agriculture
and Consumer Services and the University of Florida,

Health Check:
The State Veterinarian must check tattoos of each animal
against its health certificate prior to entry into
the housing barn.

and posters. Timely check in is the exhibitors responsibility.

Release: Completion of Senior Doe Show. Feed, hay and
other debris must be raked into piles for pick up before
release.
Exhibitors must bring whatever tools are necessary
for cleanup.
ADGA RULES SHALL GOVERN
All rules and regulations of the South Florida Fair
and IAFE will be observed. These rules can be found
in the front of the Premium Book. PLEASE READ.
Health Requirements specified in the General
Rules and Regulations found in this book, must be met. Does
must be free of contagious and/or infectious diseases
and/or external parasites including ringworm, lice,
and signs of caseous lymphadenitis, as well as its
clinical symptoms defined as enlargements of the lymph
nodes, whether draining or not.
Presenting an unhealthy
animal at arrival, subject to the ruling of the South
Florida Fair and/or the State Veterinarian, results
in herd disqualification.
GOATS that must be identified for interstate sale,
show or movement are as follows:
1. Sexually intact registered goats and goats used
primarily for milk production, moving, or
sold interstate for breeding or exhibition. Note: Legible registration tattoos
are acceptable for ID when the goats moving interstate are accompanied by their
registration certificate and the registration numbers are listed on a certificate
of veterinary inspection.
2. Sexually intact goats that reside, or have resided, on the same premises
as sheep.There
are additional identification requirements for animals which show clinical signs
of Scrapie, test positive for Scrapie or have been exposed to Scrapie. Local,
state or federal animal health personnel will assist producers in meeting official
identification requirements for these animals.
Legible individual registry tattoos issued by breed associations may also be
used as official
identification. Your assigned tattoo prefix needs to be registered with the Florida,
USDA,
APHIS, VS office.
Note: The permanent identification number
of
each animal must be included on the OCVI. Regardless of the method of indentification,
each animal must be
associ ated with a Premise Identification Number.
A registration or recordation certificate is required for animals 6 months of
age or older. A duplicate application stamped by ADGA, or the original certificate
is required for animals under 6 months. Animals without papers cannot be shown.
Animals may not be entered in any name other than that of the owner of record.
Champion Challenge: Permanent Champions must have their certificate updated by
ADGA with the CH or GCH designation before showing in the Champion
Challenge Class. (REMINDER: ANY alteration to a registration or recordation certificate
except as made by the ADGA office renders the certificate NULL AND VOID)
Clipping: No Clipping in the house barn or show ring. Clipping may be done outside
on the south end (back) of the house barn. Exhibitors are responsible for immediately
cleaning clipping area.
Tattoos: ADGA rules state animals must be tattooed before
registering or recordation
with ADGA. All dairy goats must have legible tattoo that matches the
tattoo on
the registration or recordation certificate, or stamped duplicate application
certificate. Should the judge find an unreadable tattoo or one that does not
match the animal’s registration certificate, or stamped duplicate application,
premium money and awards will be forfeited. The animal will not be permitted
to show in any other classes.
NO tattooing on the South Florida Fairgrounds. A fine of $25.00 will be collected.
HORNS: All dairy goats (including kids) must be dehorned,
disbudded or naturally polled. No disbudding or dehorning, is permitted
on the
South Florida Fairgrounds. A fine of $25.00 will be collected.
Entry Form Deadline - 12/1/2007
Each owner/exhibitor must completely fill out a separate official entry form,
including class numbers and official ID’s for each breed. Group class entries
must be entered along with regular classes.
Entries must be postmarked (not metered) or hand delivered to the South Florida
Fair on or before December 01,2007. It is suggested that entries be sent "return
receipt requested" or
with some form of Post Office receipt validation.
Entry Fee: Flat Rate of $12.00 per animal. No fees for Group Classes. Fees must
accompany entry form. No Refunds.
Substitutions: May be made through 1/01/2008. Please

No ADDITIONS will be accepted after Entry Form Deadline:
December 1, 2007.
Animal Registration Check In: ADGA rules state: The
document for that animal to be shown must be handed
to the Show Official who shall READ it and COMPARE
its information to what's on its entry form and VERIFY
the information on both.
General Information:
Only kiln-dried shavings will be allowed as bedding
for ALL pens and will be provided by
the South Florida Fair. Hay use will be limited to
feed only (No hay to be used for bedding) as per the
South
Florida Fair. No pen take down required for release.
Feed, hay, and other debris must be raked into piles
for pick up. Pre-Show Milk-Out None. Over distended
udders will be severely discriminated against by the
judge. Milk
must be disposed of in an area designated by the South
Florida Fair.
Exhibitor Dress Code for all Shows
All persons entering the show ring and handling dairy
goats in any classes shall be dressed in the following
manner: Clean, neat, and well groomed. Clean white
shirt - can have farm name, logo and/or colored trim.
Long white pants or skirt. Closed toe and heel shoes.
If showing in many classes during the day, a change
of show uniform may be necessary.
The following exhibitor uniforms or attire are NOT
ACCEPTABLE:
Tight fitting knit shirts, pants, leggings, and/or
leotards, tank tops, muscle shirts, halter tops, bare
midriffs, spaghetti straps, tube tops, see through,
fish-net or any other transparent clothing, sandals,
thongs,
flip-flops, slide-ons, bare feet, open toe shoes, shorts
or skorts of any kind, chore clothing, hats or caps
of any kind, sunglasses.
The Owner is responsible for care
management and feeding of his or her own animals. Pen
and tack space must
be clean and sanitary at all times. Nothing is allowed
in the aisles at anytime.
Gate: It is the Exhibitor's responsibility to make
sure their animals are presented at the gate on time
and in the correct class.
No Dogs allowed in the Housing Barn or the Show Barn.
Parents are responsible for the actions
of their children.
Unacceptable conduct, as determined
by the South Florida Fair and the Fair Committee, will
result in expulsion from the grounds, forfeiture of
premiums,
and /or being barred from future participation in the
South Florida Fair.

Youth Poster Contest
Entry in the Dairy Goat Show is not required to participate
in the Poster Contest. Posters to be turned in at check
in 1/18/08. Must be on hard foam board 20” X
30”. Poster topic: Must be dairy goat related.
Disqualification: Advertising of any kind, herd names
or farm names shall be cause for disqualification.
Posters must be NEW every year. Place name, address,
age and class of exhibitor on BACK of poster. Only
1 per youth. Posters will be displayed throughout the
Dairy Goat area with premiums dispersed Saturday.
Poster Premiums (Modified Danish System)

Posters will be displayed throughout the Dairy Goat
Area with premiums and placing awards given on Saturday.
Herdsmanship Award
All exhibitors are eligible.
Animals Exhibit Set Up: 20 Points
Includes pens, tack area, decorations, and educational
material, etc.
Cleanliness: 25 Points
Includes animal pens, tack area, aisle way areas around
pen and tack area. Help keep the animal holding area
and the show ring clean and swept.
Cooperation: 30 Points
Includes getting along with other exhibitors, treating
each other with respect and courtesy,
helping other exhibitors with their animals whenever
possible; treating visitors to our exhibit with courtesy,
politeness and friendliness, and presenting a positive
outlook toward the SFF Goat Show and Officials.
Personal Appearance: 25 Points
Maintaining neat personal grooming, as clean as is
possible under show conditions; clothing, hair, etc.
and presenting Fair going public with the impression
that goat owners are of high quality and very respectable.
A medal will be awarded to the Herdsman
Sanctions: The Junior and Senior
Shows are separately sanctioned. The Youth Junior and
Senior Shows are NOT separately sanctioned. The following
breeds are sanctioned and will be shown in order listed:
Saanen, Sables, Toggenburg, Alpine, LaMancha, Nigerian
Dwarf,
Nubian and Oberhasli, Recorded Grade.
Judge may limit giving reasons to only part of lengthy
classes.
Group classes are breed specific. Animals must have
already been entered and shown in their proper show
division.
Senior Doe Show
Any doe that has freshened, but is currently dry, or
is in milk or is being milked regularly, (including
precocious milkers).

Vouchers
The South Floirda Fair reserves the right without prior
notification to limit cash payouts to $250.00 per day
per exhibitor. If this occurs then premiums over the
limit will be paid by check through the mail. Disputes
must be settled with the Fair office before leaving
the Fairgrounds.
For purposes of payment by the South Florida Fair the
names listed on the Entry Form, as “Exhibitor” will
be the person to whom the premium monies are paid.

for a posted FOR SALE sign will be immediate removal
of said exhibitor and animals. All transactions for
selling of animals must be communicated through the
Livestock Chairman and the Livestock Department.
The buyer can pick up the animal after all of the goat
shows are over (Sunday Jan. 20) and upon exiting the
premises.
